July 10, 2015 The 2015-16 academic year begins in 45 days and UICFlames.com counts down the Top 25 Flames over the summer months (June 8-July 31). Each sport will be featured over eight weeks as we preview the upcoming year in UIC Athletics.

In this installment of 'Top 25 Flames for 2015-16', we will look at men's cross country and track & field junior Kyle Hauser. Last season, Hauser won consecutive Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Month awards in September and October.

Hauser led the men's cross country squad at the 2014 Horizon League Championships as he placed fourth in the 8K race (24:55). He smashed his previous personal-best time by more than 50 seconds. Hauser's finish earned him a spot on the All-League First Team.

Earlier in the cross country season, Hauser was named Horizon League Runner of the Week (Sept. 15) after placing 18th overall at the Illinois State Invitational. Elsewhere, Hauser was the runner-up at the UIC Home Opener (19:58) and the College of DuPage Invitational (25:30).

At the Horizon League Indoor Track & Field Championships, Hauser placed fourth in the one-mile run (4:15.12). During the outdoor season, Hauser won the 1500m race at the Benedictine Twilight Invitational (3:54.73).

Hauser also excels in the classroom as he owns a 3.59 grade-point-average while majoring in Psychology. Hauser earned Fall and Spring Academic All-League recognition while also being named to both honor rolls.
