CHICAGO -- UIC will be in an unusual situation this weekend as it hosts a three-game series against the Milwaukee Panthers at Granderson Stadium, but will be designated as the visiting team in all three contests. Originally scheduled for Henry Aaron Field in Milwaukee, the series has moved south due to unplayable field conditions at The Hank. The teams will meet for a doubleheader Saturday beginning at noon CT before concluding the weekend on Sunday with a game at 1 p.m.
The Flames (14-7, 5-1 Horizon League) have won 10 of their last 11 games dating back to a victory at Northwestern on March 7. UIC won eight in a row before stumbling in the second game of a doubleheader against Valparaiso on March 24, but it has rebounded to win its last two contests against the Crusaders and Northern Illinois Huskies.
Milwaukee (7-14, 0-6 Horizon League) boasts some of the best in the Horizon League with three players ranking in the top 10 in batting average. Batting .354, Chad Kelly ranks third behind UIC's
David Cronin and Oakland's Zach Sterry (.360). UWM's Daulton Varsho is currently fifth and Ben Chally is ninth. Varsho also leads the League in on-base percentage, reaching at a clip of .448.

DEFENSIVE DANDIES:
- UIC leads the Horizon League and ranks fourth in the NCAA with a fielding percentage of .985 through March 29.
- The Flames have turned 27 double plays this season, 11th most in the country.
- The team's average of 1.29 twin-killings per contest ranks second in the NCAA at this time.
- UIC has been charged with just three total errors in the last 12 games and is 10-2 in that span.
GONE STREAKING:
- UIC won a season-high eight consecutive games between March 7 at Northwestern and March 24 against Valparaiso.
- That was the longest winning streak since the 2015 team won eight in a row between May 5-21 that spring.
- The Flames batted .309 as a team during the eight-game span while scoring an average of 6.5 runs per game. On the mound, UIC pitchers posted a 1.85 ERA and held the opposition to a batting average of. 196.
- Cody Bohanek batted a team-best .400 during the streak with four doubles, eight RBI and nine runs scored. Scott Ota drove in a team-high 14 runs with two home runs for UIC over those eight games.
OTA HONORED BY HORIZON LEAGUE:
- Sophomore Scott Ota was named the Horizon League Batter of the Week on March 27.
- The Foster City, Calif., native batted .533 over a four-game span woth 10 RBI.
- Ota recorded a career-high six RBI in game one of a doubleheader against Valparaiso on March 24, doing so in his first three plate appearances. He hit his first career grand slam in the second inning of the game.
- The outfielder matched a career high with three hits in the nightcap on March 24.
- Ota leads UIC, and the entire Horizon League, with 23 RBI through March 30.
- It is his second weekly honor from the conference (also 4/11/16). He is the third UIC player to be recognized this spring, joining Connor Ryan (Feb. 27) and Jake Dahlberg (March 13).
NOTABLE NEWCOMERS:
- Redshirt sophomore Alex Padilla owns a 1.06 ERA in nine appearances out of the bullpen. He has not allowed a run in his last 11.0 innings of work, spanning four appearances. He leads bullpen with 14 strikeouts.
- Junior Bowen Ogata owns the team's longest active hitting streak at 10 games and he has started 17 of 21 games for the Flames.
- Junior Garrett Myers made his first start for UIC last Sunday and the Happy Valley, Ore., native went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
- Freshman Jacob Key has made six appearances on the mound with four starts. The right-handed pitcher has allowed only six earned runs in 26.2 innings of work for a team-best 1.69 ERA.
AS LONG AS IT TAKES:
- UIC is 3-0 in extra-inning games this season with two wins at then-seventh-ranked Vanderbilt and one over Youngstown State.
- The longest game of the season, 12 innings, came in the second half of a doubleheader vs. YSU on March 19. UIC won the game 1-0.
