CHICAGO – UIC placed 91 student-athletes on the Fall 2019 Horizon League Academic Honor Roll, the conference announced on Friday, Jan. 17. The 91 honorees is two off the department record of 93 that were on the Fall 2018 Academic Honor Roll.

The Flames' 300 student-athletes combined for an impressive 3.14 GPA last fall, the 11
th consecutive semester in which UIC has posted a department GPA of 3.0 or higher. Fifty student-athletes recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA last semester while an equally impressive 119 student-athletes earned Dean's List honors for achieving a 3.5 GPA or better.

UIC's baseball team led the way with 12 honorees this past semester. The men's and women's swimming and diving programs followed closely behind with 10 student-athletes from each team on the list. The women's volleyball, softball and soccer programs all produced eight student-athletes on the Academic Honor Roll while the men's tennis and women's track and field/cross country programs were one behind with seven. Men's soccer and men's track and field/cross country had six honorees each and the women's tennis program added four student-athletes. Women's golf was represented by three student-athletes while the men's and women's basketball programs each had one student-athlete recognized.

Candidates for the Honor Roll must meet three criteria in order to qualify:
1) participation in at least one of the League's 19 sports during the most recent (or current) season.
2) completion of three semesters (or four quarters, where applicable) as a full-time student at the same member institution.
3) a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale).
