UIC added yet another historic achievement and moved to the cusp of a conference championship on this date in 2019. The Flames defeated Northern Kentucky,
1-0 in overtime, in the Horizon League semifinals.
The Flames dominated possession, shots, and shots on goal, with season highs in the latter two. Several impressive saves by the Norse keeper kept the #2 seed Flames from going up one or even two goals in regulation. Meanwhile,
Lena Kurz had to make just three saves for her 10th shutout.
After 103 minutes of scoreless soccer, the Flames finally scored.
Emily Valentine sent in a corner kick,
Tamae Douglas played it to the ground, and
Cassidy Privett tapped it into the net. The victory was UIC's record 12th of the season, and the program's first in tournament play.
