UIC's swimmers will hold their final competition of the regular season – and for the seniors, their final appearance at UIC Natatorium – Saturday morning in a meet with UChicago and Wabash.
Before the meet, which starts at 11:00, the team will honor its seniors. The class has a third place finish at conference in its past – the highest finish ever for the women – and has led the team to third place rankings in the latest College Swimming data. The women are 6-1 in conference dual meets, the best record in team history, and the men have topped every conference team they have swam against except Oakland.
"Everyone wants to win this last meet for the seniors,"
Tim Loeffler said. "The women have a chance to go undefeated at home, and the men can finish with just one loss at home. The team wants to achieve those goals, of course, but also to just win this one for the seniors means a lot. Diving should score some points for us, and the rest of the meet is just about doing what we need to do to get through each event."
Though the Flames' divers will compete once more, in the UIC Diving Invitational, the swim team will take three full weeks to train for the Horizon League championships.
