WHY: The tournament not only inspires healthy competition, it also helps "Somebody's Hero" raise funds to conquer leukemia, lymphoma and myelodysplastic syndromes by funding research into their causes and cures.

Kathleen Meyers-Grabemann was a high school athlete who went on to star on the basketball and volleyball courts for Loyola University and after graduating, starred in the court of law as an attorney. When Kathy's life was taken by leukemia in 1996, she was survived by her loving husband and young daughter. Friends and family members established "Somebody's Hero" - the Kathleen Meyers Grabemann Chapter in her memory. This year's tournament marks the 10 year anniversary of Kathy's death. In those 10 years, "Somebody's Hero" has raised more than $400,000!

While Kathy Meyers Grabemann was up against immeasurable odds, she continued to hold a vision for the future--to have a cancer free future.

"Believe in the power of one person to make a difference, to affect change, and even to save a life. Know, as I do, that leukemia doesn't stand a chance against all of you."
Kathleen Meyers Grabemann
